Hoi An is everything you see in pictures and more! It is such a magical city to walk around; in fact you could spend days here soaking in all of its beauty.  Looking to buy a suit or dress? You’re in luck; people fly here from all over the world to get custom clothing made!  Looking to try some tropical fruit? You’re in luck again; there are many different kinds to try including: jackfruit, durian, dragon fruit, coconuts, and rambutan! It’s hard to say but this may have been my favorite spot in Vietnam!

Attractions:

  • Walk Around Town: Hoi An is a very relaxing spot with plenty of markets and things to see. You can spend hours and hours walking around this small town! Be sure to walk by the Japanese Covered Bridge!

  • My Son: Less than an hour outside of Hoi An, these ruins (some of which date back to the 4th Century) make for a fabulous day trip. A ½ day tour with transport included costs 138,000 VND.

  • Golden Bridge: Only accessible by cable car, this site was first opened to the public in 2018. I have not been there myself but found this page very helpful and informative.

  • Other spots to check out include: An Bang Beach, Thanh Ha Pottery Village, Terracotta Park, and Hoi An Museum.

Accommodation:

  • Hoi Pho: This is more of a hotel than a hostel but I was pleased with my accommodation. If you’re looking to meet people, I would look elsewhere - there are plenty of fun hostels in Hoi An!

Transportation:

  • Unfortunately, there are not any buses that come directly in and out of Hoi An. The main travel hub nearby is Da Nang which is a 1 hour city bus ride from Hoi An (costs 20,000 VND). When looking at the information below, keep this in mind.

  • Hue is 3 hours by bus from Da Nang and costs 200,000 VND.

  • Dong Hoi is 6 hours by train from Hoi An and costs 350,000 VND. Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is a 45 minute city bus from Dong Hoi.

  • Hanoi is 15.5 hours by bus from Da Nang and costs 484,000 VND.

  • Da Lat is 18 hours by bus from Da Nang and costs 460,000 VND.

  • Ho Chi Minh City is 18 hours by train from Da Nang and costs 760,000 VND.
